On June 12th, 2014 the Regiment once again marked the passage of time with a change of command parade.

Though it wasn’t the first time the Regiment has had a brush with royalty, a spring day in Monte Cassino brought another such honour to Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians).

After winning Gold on Exercise STRONG CONTENDER 14 and the positive win ratio during intersection regular season play, the LdSH(RC) Curling ‘A Team’ had high expectations and were favourites heading into Base Playdowns March 4-6.
On Friday, 11 April 2014, 88 Army Cadets and staff from 1292 Calgary, 2716 Mayerthorpe, and 3070 Evansburg Cadet Corps departed their home units for a weekend adventure at the Harvey Building.

On 28 January, the Regiment hosted some special guests. The children and parents of the 5th St Albert’s Beavers and Cubs were invited to come and see our cool “toys” and learn about what we do.

From 28 February - 7 March 2014, B Squadron deployed approximately 50 soldiers to support the 24 students on the spring gun camp held in Wainwright, AB.
On 17 March 2014, Recce Squadron was greeted by oddly warm Alberta weather, as they launched out the door for COLD LAKE to participate in Exercise COLD STEELE 14.
Through the dates of March 17th through 21st, Prince of Wales (B) Squadron deployed to Hinton, Alberta, for “Adventure Training” otherwise known as Ex COLD STEELE.

The Corporal Jamie Steeves Comradeship Award was envisioned by the staff of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School (RCACS) to honour the memory of an outstanding soldier, comrade and fellow Strathcona who tragically passed away on 31 May 2012.
On Wednesday, 11 December, 2013, sixteen Strathconas from A and B Squadrons departed a snowy Edmonton for the summer warmth of Iquique, Chile, for Ex STEELE CASCADE.
This year, Strathconas participated in another exciting and challenging week of sports, known as Exercise STRONG CONTENDER.
Having participated in a reciprocal unit exchange (RUE) with 4th Squadron “Longknife” of the 3rd US Cavalry Regiment last year, members of Recce Squadron again had the privilege of travelling to Fort Hood, Texas, for another outstanding training opportuni
