Major L.B. Tapp
Officer Commanding C SquadronMaj Tapp was born and raised in London, ON. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Combat Engineer in the 31st Combat Engineer Regiment in February 2005 and was soon accepted to the Royal Military College of Canada. He attended the preparatory year in St. Jean and went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in History in Kingston as an Infantry Officer. Before graduating, he transferred to the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps, completed his DP 1.2 in August of 2011, and was badged to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). On his first regimental tour he served as 1 Troop Leader in B Squadron and deployed to Afghanistan as part of Roto 3 of Op ATTENTION, acting as the J1 Ops. Upon his return he was posted to the Armoured School as an Instructor and Course Officer, teaching, and running various junior leadership tank courses. Returning to the Regiment in 2018, he acted as the Battle Captain for B Squadron, where he was immediately put into the role of 2nd in Command for the vanguard company to fight fires in British Columbia during Op LENTUS 18-05. He deployed on Op IMPACT as the Operations Officer for the Canadian Training and Assistance Team – Jordan, then acted as the Regiment’s Operations Officer upon return. During the summer of 2021 he was posted to 1 CMBG HQ to act as the G1. He recently deployed on Op IMPACT as a Future Operations Planner for the Op INHERENT RESOLVE HQ based in Kuwait and was posted back to the Regiment on return. He currently lives in Edmonton with his wife Sandy, son Jack and their dogs Patso and Teddy. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, weightlifting and hunting. |
