Master Warrant Officer S.P. McLoughlin
Squadron Sergeant Major A SquadronMaster Warrant Officer Stew McLoughlin joined the Regular Force in July of 2000. After a stay at CFLRS and TQ3 Battle School at CFB Wainwright he arrived at the Regiment into Recce Sqn as a Coyote Driver. 2003 saw a deployment to Bosnia with C Sqn on Op PALLADIUM as a coyote driver and surv op. Following that deployment Cpl McLoughlin headed towards the light and joined a tank squadron qualifying in all 3 positions. In February of 2006 he deployed to Afghanistan on Op ENDURING FREEDOM as a Bison driver with Regional Command (South) and remained there till Oct. Once back in Canada he was posted to CFB Suffield and spent three years at Range Control and RC Ops. Back to the Regiment in 2010 as a MCpl, with no crew commanding qualifications, he was offered a lovely (nearly) six-month trip to the Armoured School to get qualified 25mm, ARCC and tank commander. From 2010-2015 he remained in B Squadron leaving as a WO to his next posting at the RCACS. From 2015-2017 WO McLoughlin was the constant in A Sqn RCACS as the tank crew commanding course WO. Watching future officers learn about maneuver warfare was always entertaining but not nearly as much as training future WO’s on the ATW, he has pictures. Posted back to the Regiment in 2017 into A Sqn and into another Op LENTUS deployment before he was done clearing into base. 2018 saw WO McLoughlin and his troop traveled to Chile to train at the Armoured Combat Training Centre in the Atacama Desert. All good things had to come to an end and he dismounted his tank for the last time and went in the A Sqn SQ shop. Jan 2020, WO McLoughlin deployed to Latvia under Op REASSURANCE as the CSS CQ. Upon return to Canada and technically still on leave he moved into his new position of Regimental Ops Warrant and went to Wainwright on exercise. In May of 2022 he deployed on Op IMPACT to Baghdad Iraq to work in the Joint Visits Bureau of NATO Mission Iraq. The trend of deploying and coming home to a posting continued and in Jan of 2023 he was off to 3CDTC in Wainwright as the A Coy CQMS. Promoted in Dec of 2023 to his current rank, MWO McLoughlin remained the highest paid CQ at the school for the next six months and returned to the Regiment in June of 2024 to be SSM A Sqn. MWO McLoughlin is married to Edyta since 2003 and has 2 children, Connor and Oliwia, and one brain dead boxer. He enjoys golfing poorly, being outdoors when it’s not raining and a fine cigar when it’s not too cold out. |
