On behalf of the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) [LdSH(RC)] Regimental Society and Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), it is my distinct honour to announce the winners of this year’s CP & Society Student Scholarship.
The two organizations have worked closely for many years to increase awareness of the issues that military members and their families face. This generous scholarship program supported by CP is an incredibly beneficial program which has assisted many members and their families with furthering their education. The Scholarship selection committee is made up of members of the Regimental Society and CP representatives. Up to $10,000 is available in scholarships, in a combination of family support for post-secondary education as well as for soldiers leaving the Canadian Armed Forces to pursue transitional training in a railway applicable technical trade. Applicants are selected based on their connection to the Regiment, academic standing, career and educational goals, community service involvement, and level of financial need.
As is often the case, the Scholarship committee had exceptionally competitive applicants for this year's recipients. All the applicants to this year’s competition were extremely competitive and the Selection Committee was excited to be able to provide financial support to a broad range of applicants who are pursuing higher education in a variety of fields including Nursing, Veterinary Studies, Business, and Communications. We are pleased to announce the selection of the following CP & Society Student Scholarship recipients:
Giselle Tucker
Payton Henderson
Caleb Mills
Tarin King
CP and LdSH(RC) will continue to offer this scholarship in perpetuity. For future years’ iterations, we wish to reach as many people as possible. We encourage sharing this notice and other information on the scholarship program with all serving and retired members and their loved ones. Applications must be received no later than 31 May of each year.
Once again, on behalf of CP, LdSH(RC), and the entire Regimental family, congratulations to Giselle, Payton, Caleb, and Tarin! The Strathcona’s would also like to thank CP for their generous partnership with the Regimental Society. Their continued contributions allows the scholarship program to continue to improve our communities.
