5th St Albert’s Beavers and Cubs Visit
By Master Corporal Paul Fisher
On 28 January, the Regiment hosted some special guests. The children and parents of the 5th St Albert’s Beavers and Cubs were invited to come and see our cool “toys” and learn about what we do. There were numerous stations set up around our Regimental lines including a static Leopard 2 main battle tank (MBT) and Coyote reconnaissance vehicle display, an Night Vision Goggle obstacle course, camouflage face painting, paintball range, weapons display and Leopard 2 MBT gunnery simulators.
The evening started with Major Christopher Nolan and Lieutenant Shaun “We Got This” Rogozinski welcoming our guests and sending them off to have fun. The children were excited to climb on and in our vehicles and get their faces “painted” (which some parents also did). But the biggest hits of the night were the paintball range with Corporal Liam Talty and the Leopard 2 MBT gunnery simulators (video games) run by Warrant Officer Jason Webb and his staff. The evening was a great success as the Beavers and Cubs, their parents, and even the soldiers who stayed late to help with the visit – everyone had an amazing time. The soldiers of LdSH (RC) were honoured to host this event, and we look forward to seeing them again!
