After the mass floods that took place in southern Alberta to which the Regiment provided relief on Operation LENTUS, Calgary Stampede Parade and Spruce Meadows seemed to be events that would be unattainable.

SMT could not have found a better way to kick off the 2013 Ride Season. It started when Assistant Commissionaire Roger Brown, CO RCMP Depot Division, invited the Troop to take part in the opening ceremonies of the Sam Steele Collection.
On 15 May 13, Recce Squadron once again returned to the plains of Wainwright for yet another exercise. Ex MAPLE RESOLVE was a 1 CMBG exercise conducted by the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre (CMTC).
Few exercises provide as much excitement as one with live-fire combat team and battle group attacks. Ex PROMETHEAN RAM did not disappoint, with A Squadron, led by Maj Eric Angell, firing dozens of rounds down range.

In the warmth and comfort of the Lecture Training Facility the Regiment held the annual memorial parade and service commemorating the Battle of Moreuil Wood, but the local residents in France commemorated the event on the historic battlefield.
