Van der Schee Collection
In the philanthropic spirit of Donald Alexander Smith, LCol (retired) Wynard Van der Schee generously donated his personal collection of books to the Fort Frontenac library on 11 June 2013. The collection consists of more than 4000 rare and unusual books and a catalogue entitled "Selections from the Wyn Van der Schee Collection".
Unofficially recognized as the Canadian Army's Library, LCol (ret'd) Van der Schee's donation will help ensure the status of the Fort Frontenac Library remains the home of many significant volumes of great importance.
Collected over the course of forty years, these tomes represent a passion and interest in history that greatly benefits the Canadian public through this act of generosity. LGen Devlin, Commander of the Army, personally showed his appreciation by presenting LCol (ret'd) Van der Schee with a coin, Commendation, and personal thanks.
