Chief Warrant Officer R.A. Englehart

Regimental Sergeant Major, 2022-2023

Chief Warrant Officer Englehart, was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, and enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in October 1997.  After completing Basic Training at CFLRS in St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec and Battle School in Wainwright Alberta he was posted to Edmonton Alberta, and was assigned to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in February of 1998.


After arriving to the Regiment CWO Englehart, was employed in A sqn and deployed as part of the 3PPCLI Battle Group to Bosnia.  Upon return to Canada he was moved to C Sqn, and then to B Sqn in 2002. As a member of B Sqn CWO Englehart, deployed to Kananaskis AB in support of the G8 summit and back to Bosnia as part of the 1 PPCLI Battle Group. Upon return to Canada he deployed with B Sqn to the BC fires in 2003, he was then employed in HQ Sqn and RHQ before being posted to Royal Canadian Armour Corps School in 2005.


At the RCACS CWO Englehart, completed several career courses such as Armoured Reconnaissance Crew Commander, Armoured Gunnery Instructor, Reconnaissance Patrol Commander and Tank Crew Commander. CWO Englehart, was employed within HQ Sqn, taught DP1 Armoured Crewmen Courses and finished his time at the School as a member of Army Instructor Gunnery team.  He was posted back to the Regiment in 2008.


Upon his return to the Regiment CWO Englehart, was posted into C Sqn and deployed as a Tank Commander to Afghanistan with Task Force 1-09.  Upon completion of his deployment, CWO Englehart, was employed in Recce, C and A Sqn.  He deployed to Portage la Prairie in support of the Manitoba floods in 2011 and to Canmore AB in support of the Calgary floods in 2013.  

CWO Englehart, served as an SQ, the Regimental Trg WO, RGWO and Regimental Ops WO before being appointed as Sergeant-Major A Sqn. CWO Englehart, deployed as the Camp Sergeant-Major in 2017 on Operation Unifier in Ukraine and was appointed Sergeant-Major B Squadron upon his return.


In 2018 CWO Englehart, was appointed the Snr Crewman Career Manager and posted to the Department of Military Careers in Ottawa ON. He served as the Career Manager until promoted to his current rank in June 2020 and posted to the U.S. Army Sergeant Majors Academy, Fort Bliss Texas. After graduating the U.S. Sergeants Major Course, CWO Englehart, was employed as an Instructor within the Department of Command Leadership.


CWO Englehart, enjoys camping and traveling with his amazing wife Michelle and their son Rylan. CWO Englehart, is absolutely honoured to be appointed the Regimental Sargent Major of the LdSH(RC).
