Major G.R. Elliott

Officer Commanding HQ Squadron

Born & raised in the Gulf Islands, BC, Major Gordon Elliott enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Armour Officer in 2005 under the Regular Officer Training Program. He attended the Royal Military College of Canada, graduating with the Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 2009, and was subsequently commissioned into Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) that summer.

Upon arrival to LdSH(RC), Maj Elliott was initially employed within RHQ as part of the deployment for Op PODIUM, the CAF security contribution to the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. Subsequently, he was employed as a Troop Leader within Recce Squadron, and deployed as a Training Team Leader to Kabul, Afghanistan, as part of Op ATTENTION in 2011. Maj Elliott returned to the Regiment in 2015 as Battle Captain Recce Sqn, Second in Command Recce Sqn, Second in Command B Sqn, and finally as the Regimental Operations Officer. Most recently, he returned to the Regiment in 2019 & deployed as the S5 of the LdSH(RC) led Battle Group as part of Op REASSURANCE 20-01 in Latvia.

Outside of the Regiment, Maj Elliott has be employed at HQ 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in a number of staff positions and at the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre in Wainwright, most recently as the Armoured Observer Controller Trainer Team Leader.

Maj Elliott lives in St Albert with his incredible & supportive wife, Robyn, and their four children, Owen, Liam, Ryan & Hannah. With what little spare time is left, he enjoys skiing, hunting & fishing.
