Lieutenant-Colonel P.P.J. Demers, CD
Commanding Officer, 2006-2008
LCol Pascal Demers has 21 years of service and has been a member of Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) since 1989. He has commanded both tank and reconnaissance squadrons in his Regiment and held the NATO desk officer appointment in the Directorate of Land Strategic Planning at NDHQ. LCol Demers has held three operational positions in Bosnia–Herzegovina: Adjutant of the LdSH(RC) Battle Group, Reconnaissance Squadron Commander attached to the 2PPCLI Battle Group, as well as G3 of Multinational Brigade Northwest for a one-year period. He has been employed as the Armour Directing Staff and Black Robe of the Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College for the past two years.
LCol Demers is bilingual and holds a bachelor’s degree in military and strategic studies from Royal Roads Military College and a Master’s in Defence Studies from RMC. He is married to Louise (née Grieve) and has three children, James, John and Heather, who live with his ex-wife in Ottawa. He enjoys rugby, cooking and international politics—but not usually all at the same time. |
