War Horse and the Strathcona Connection

 

The heroism displayed by soldiers and horses in the upcoming Stephen Spielberg film War Horse draws much of its context from the valour displayed by the Canadian Cavalry Brigade in the First World War.  Specifically, the charge of C Squadron LdSH(RC) at the pivotal Battle of Moreuil Wood, led by Lt Gordon Flowerdew, merits mention in the linked article:
