Strathcona’s 2011 United Way Fundraising Campaign
This year’s United Way fundraising campaign has greatly surpassed anyone’s expectations. The soldiers of the Regiment have gone above and beyond to raise a total of $45, 785.21 towards those less fortunate than us.
Every day, United Way works to strengthen communities and promote the well-being of people around the world. Within Canada, the United Way of Canada has been committed to achieving meaningful, long-term improvements to the quality of life in Canadian communities. In 2010, the United Way Alberta Capital Region has lead initiatives in the Edmonton area supporting childhood education, low income and homelessness and community wellness to name a few. Internationally, the United Way has lead thousands of projects including advancing information technology in Indonesia, training health educators in Mumbai and assisting with earthquake recovery in Haiti. The $45, 785.21 raised by Strathcona’s will contribute towards projects such as these and other charitable organizations recognized by the United Way Foundation.
The amazing generosity from the soldiers in the Regiment is truly remarkable and very humbling. Thanks to MWO Pudar who managed to coordinate the overwhelming response from the troops, but most importantly, many thanks to all who contributed towards this year’s United Way campaign.
