Chief Warrant Officer J. Ramsay, CD
Regimental Sergeant Major, 2008-2010
Chief Warrant Officer Joe Ramsay was born in Cobalt, Ontario. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces in July 1979 and was posted to Lahr, Germany, with the Royal Canadian Dragoons following his basic Armoured Crewman training. In 1983, Chief Warrant Officer Ramsay was posted to Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in Calgary, Alberta. Chief Warrant Officer Ramsay’s various appointments during his extensive service with the Regiment include: Troop Warrant Officer B Squadron; Company Quartermaster B Company LdSH(RC); Squadron Quartermaster Reconnaissance Squadron; Squadron Sergeant-Major B Squadron; and Squadron Sergeant-Major Headquarters Squadron. Chief Warrant Officer Ramsay’s extra regimental appointments include a tour of duty at CTC Armour School as an instructor with Depot and Tactics Squadrons, employment at National Defence Headquarters on the MOSART Project, and most recently, a year long second language course in Hull, Quebec. Chief Warrant Officer Ramsay has deployed on multiple overseas operations to include Cyprus in 1988 as a Crew Commander, Cambodia in 1993 as part of the United Nations Transitional Authority, Bosnia Op PALLADIUM Roto 1 in 1997 as Company Quartermaster for B Company, Kosovo in 1999 as the Reconnaissance Squadron Quartermaster, Bosnia in 2002 as Sergeant-Major B Squadron, and Afghanistan Op ARCHER Roto 1 in 2006 as RSM National Command Element. CWO Ramsay has three sons: Tadd, Dax, and Shane. |
