Op IMPACT Canadian Training Assistance Team – Jordan (CTAT-J)
The second half of the deployment saw a massive shift for CTAT-J personnel. After a review of the structure and current efficacy of the team, the Acting Commanding Officer collaborated with the Mobile Training Teams (MTT) and none other than our very own Regimental 2IC, Maj Selberg (CO CTAT-J in 2019), to develop a new way forward. A major outcome of this change was the embedding of the Combat Service Support MTTs within battalions of the Mohammaed bin Zayed Quick Reaction Force Brigade, placing Warrant Officer Bryson Murphy in sunny Aqaba and Warrant Officer Mark Bell up north near beautiful Irbid.
As for the Headquarters personnel, they remained busy in Amman maintaining the readiness of the team and enabling the CTAT’s success. Notably, Sergeant Sean Andrews was promoted in front of his friends and colleagues!
Despite the successes of the tour and the friendships that were made, the Strathcona’s are ready to come home. As they approach their handovers with their incoming counterparts, the team is excitedly preparing themselves for a (hopefully) balmy November in Edmonton!
