As Historical Vehicle Troop closed out 2010, we saw a new project get underway. The removal of “Spartan” the Sherman. This Tank has stood at the enterance of the Harvey Bluiding for some 15 years. The troops of HVT have started to strip and prepare Spartan for a much needed paint job. While Spartan is in for its paint job. “Screwball” a Leopard C1 monument has taken the place of the Sherman. With some more time and lots of sanding and paint Spartan will be ready to stand watch over the Harvey building for another 15 years. 

With the dawning of 2011 show season, coming upon us. The blitz of preperations on the vehicles has begun. Cpl Ryan Pasuta with the help of Tpr Sephton has eagerly been spearheading the charge. Cpl Ryan Pasuta has been busy replacing Dictator’s Bevel Box, as well as putting in some TLC into the Ferrets motor. It’s always a learning experience when you are working on a machine that was built before your own father was born.

With the help of Bruce Miedema; one of the civilian Leopard maintainers, the Troop was able to affect repairs to Catherine’s oil leaks and readjust the steering linkage. She is now ready to please the Crowds and Veterans where ever she goes.

As Historical Vehicle Troop looks forward to the rest of spring we have some big events upcoming; Rainmaker Rodeo Parade (St Albert 28 May), Freedom of the City Parade (St Albert 11 June), and Spruce Meadows Display in the summer.
