Ex STEELE ADVENTURE 2023

In September, A Squadron, which had been operating with minimal staff for the past 9 months, seized a golden opportunity. They headed out to the Rockies for a much-needed Squadron level exercise and team bonding during this year’s adventure training. From September 25th to 28th, A Squadron set themselves at the Rocky Mountain Cadet Training Center (RMCTC) near Kananaskis, AB.

Ex STEELE ADVENTURE 2023 was unlike any other, focusing on pure adventure and team building. Days were filled with organized activities including rappelling, paintball, ATV riding, mountain biking, and hiking, with activities running from 0600hrs to 1600hrs daily.

At the rappel tower, Sergeant Comeau safely trained and mentored around 40 soldiers, including a towering 6'9'', 300 lb soldier who fearlessly descended upside down. This act of bravery boosted everyone's confidence. ATVs became a highlight thanks to the extra support from the Regiment. Lt Snetzko, WO Bolzan, and Sgt Comeau worked tirelessly, qualifying soldiers to explore the backcountry of Alberta. Paintball matches were intense, with the squadron split into yellow and red teams, and the red team, conveniently led by the OC, emerged victorious.

Mountain biking and hiking offered breathtaking views, with trails like Mockingbird Lookout Trail and Ghost Mountain Summit providing unforgettable experiences. As the day's adventures concluded at 1600hrs, soldiers lined up for well-deserved hotdogs and burgers, expertly grilled by MWO Murphy and WO Chuback. Afterward, the evenings were filled with more fun and a popular game of Werewolf, a murder mystery led by Cpl Fitzpatrick.

Overall, Ex STEELE ADVENTURE 2023 was a resounding success. A Squadron aimed to strengthen their bonds and create lasting memories, and they achieved just that in the foothills of central Alberta. This incredible adventure wouldn't have been possible without the support of the entire Regiment, and the Squadron expresses sincere gratitude to everyone involved in making this unforgettable experience a reality.
