Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, attended the Sunday service at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria on Saturday November 7th. Seven Strathconas, including Capt Manouchehri, MWO Batty, WO Fox, Sgt C.C. Barker, Cpl Ramiro, Tpr Dejong, and the swooning Kathy Batty. This service fulfilled Remembrance Day rituals such as the playing of the Last Post bugle call and two minutes of silence. The children’s choir was a very nice addition to the service.
Afterwards, we were escorted outside and given the privilege of meeting the Royal Couple. Prince Charles was gracious enough to point out that he was wearing a Strathcona tie. He shook our hands, greeted us with enthusiasm, and briefly spoke to us on an individual basis before moving on to greet the crowd that had gathered outside.
Overall I had a great time on my trip to Victoria. Thankfully the weather was nice enough to throw in some sight seeing on such a magnificent city.
