A Sqn Adventure Training
By Tpr Richard Wagner and Tpr Kyle Hauck
On 10-12 Aug 11, members from A Sqn participated in a canoe trip on the North Saskatchewan River beginning in Drayton Valley, AB. This trip experienced pirates, vikings, a broken down bus, hail, rain, and all the BBQ meat one could eat. This proved to be an excellent opportunity for the Sqn to kick back and relax as the calm waters and smooth current allowed for an enjoyable trip, yet some members were still unable to keep their canoes afloat. One canoe team travelled over 2 kms down river before being rescued by two nameless Sqn pirates. After the first day of canoeing was complete, A Sqn kicked off an evening of swimming, fishing, and chatting around the fire. This trip would not have been possible if not for the hard work of the advance party. The advance party drove ahead and set up the camp sites before the main body arrived from the river. On the final night, A Sqn soldiers who were unable to participate in the adventure training arrived for the BBQ supper. After dinner, the Sqn was formed together to hand out some much earned promotions to include Tprs Koke, Townsend, Potter, and Langland. Congratulations to all! Even though the marshmallows were forgotten, the trip was a great success and those who attended were left with some great memories.
