Acting Regimental Sergeant Major


MWO Kevin King was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. He joined the Regiment in Sept of 1989, after completing basic training at CFRD Cornwallis and TQ3 at CFB Gagetown.

He started his Regimental life as a Cougar Gunner in 4 Tp B Sqn. He has completed a multitude of courses, including Combat Leaders Course in 1991 and Leopard CI gunner in 1993. As a member of B Sqn, he deployed to Bosnia on Op CAVALIER in 1994, as a Tp Leaders Gunner and also a Crew Commander. In 1995, he completed a short stint with RHQ, as the CO's Driver. 1996 seen him move to C Sqn, in preparation for his 1997 deployment to Bosnia, on Op PALLADIUM as a Cougar Crew Commander. Upon completion of that deployment in 1998, he remained in C Sqn and within the year became a Charlie Tank Commander. MWO King once again deployed to Bosnia in 2000 as part of the Task Force HQ. Upon completion of that Tour, he was employed as a Bravo Tank Commander and completed his QL6A and was promoted to Sgt in Sept 2002.

In 2002, MWO King completed the Advanced Armour Gunners Course at the Armour School in Gagetown, NB. 2003 had him employed as the Ops Sgt and Squadron Gunnery Warrant Officer for B Sqn. During this time, he deployed on Op PEREG1NE, fighting the BC forest fires, from August - September. He was in charge of B Sqn Gunnery for the CAN-AM Cup, a tank gunnery competition, in Boise, Idaho from October - November.

From 2004- 2007, MWO King was posted to CTC Gagetown Armour School. While at the Armour School, he instructed on numerous Gunnery and Tactics Courses. In April 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer.

In 2007, MWO King returned to Edmonton, where he was employed as a Tp WO within A Sqn, in preparation for their deployment to Afghanistan on Op ARCHER TF 3-08 in Sept 2008. MWO King moved to Recce Sqn in 2009, where he prepared for Op PODIUM, Vancouver's 2010 Winter Olympics. After Op PODIUM, he stayed within Recce Sqn and became the SQMS.

In the fall of 2010, MWO King moved to RHQ as the Regimental Gunnery Warrant Officer. In June 2011, he moved to the position of Regimental Ops Warrant Officer until the summer of 2012.

MWO King attended second language training in Edmonton 2012 - 2013 and on completion was appointed B Squadron Sergeants Major on 28 June 2013 and was promoted to his current rank of MWO in Jan 2014.

In July 2015 he was moved into his current position as Headquarters Squadron Sergeant Major.

MWO King has been married to Seema since September 1993. They have 2 children Jasmine and Tarin.
